ORYA’s Dance program serves members of the community that want to use their bodies in a non-sport discipline. Participants will not be competing in the classic sense but will be participating in a program that utilizes their bodies as much as traditional sports leading to healthier bodies & minds.
Each year ORYA may offer new and different dance program options based on the level and experience of instructors. Historically ORYA has been able to offer a break-dance, hip-hop class with instructor Shawn Middleton. This program offers an old-school style for participants of a wide age range to experience. The UNH dance team has offered programming with a mixed-discipline approach. As instructors & volunteers are found new programs may be added to cater to our community.
This high-energy program teaches basic hip-hop and break dancing moves along with the historical origin of this amazing form of dance. Cooperative and individual moves will be taught. Coach Shawn Middleton has been overseeing this course for the past 10 years and brings an energy that cannot be duplicated.
