WHY DO WE NEED TO RAISE FUNDS?
ORYA is an independent 501 (c)3 non-profit and while partially funded by Durham, Lee and Madbury that funding still falls well short of covering annual operating expenses. Fundraising supports the annual operating expenses which include facility & field maintenance, program & organization insurance, office expenses, staff salaries, 3rd party accounting costs, website hosting, annual registration software, merchant account fees, and much more.
Fundraising also supports larger program and organization improvements. Through fundraising ORYA ensures the ability to make improvements where needed, such as:
- Building a concession stand at Demerritt Park in Madbury
- Expanding the soccer facility at Tibbetts field
- Building a multi-use indoor space
- And so much more!
Initiatives Benefitting the ORYA Capital Fund and Programs
ORYA’s Capital Fund supports new initiatives, large scale programs, and/or facility
improvements. The Capital Fund is sustained by donations, grants, and program
registration fees. The Capital Fund ensures ORYA’s steady growth and, over time,
investment in larger projects.
All of ORYA’s programs benefit from the Capital Fund. Expenditures from ORYA’s
Capital Fund must support the organization’s mission and be approved by the
Board of Directors. If you have any questions regarding ORYA’s Capital Fund
please contact Matt Glode, ORYA Director at director@oryarec.org.

Initiatives Benefitting the ORYA Capital Fund and Programs
Each team sport at ORYA operates under the support and guidance of a volunteer Advisory Group (AG). AGs are typically parents of players within the program whose function is to support the operation of the sport each season. AGs oversee sport-specific fundraising which supports the needs of each sport outside the scope of what standard player fees cover. Fundraising money is most often utilized for
- Equipment
- uniforms/apparel for players or volunteer coaches
- Indoor/Outdoor field space
- Professional coaching or program support
- summer camps
- Sports Clinics
- Professional coaching or program support
- Tournament fees
BASEBALL | OPENING DAY
At the start of the season all baseball players come together in one day to celebrate the start of the season, have pictures taken, participate in the Pitch, Hit & Run contest, play games and raise money for the program.
LACROSSE | APPAREL SALE
Players and parents alike have the opportunity to gear up while generating money for the program. In partnership with Collin’s Sports ORYA Lacrosse will have a webstore open for a week in order for families to choose between the items picked out for you by the ORYA Lacrosse coordinators.
BASKETBALL | BOBCAT TOURNAMENT
Over the weekend of March 10-12 ORYA Basketball hosts a local tournament with over 40 teams representing grades 3-8. Teams battle for the championship while ORYA basketball raises money via concessions, tournament fees and in-person 50/50 and raffle drawings.
FOOTBALL | CALENDAR RAFFLE & UNH OPENING DAY
ORYA Football solicited some amazing donations from local-area businesses to create a prize calendar. Each day a raffle ticket was drawn and the winner was awarded the prize of the day.
